Assistant Manager

Position Overview

The Greenhouse is seeking a dedicated and hospitality-driven Assistant Manager to support daily restaurant operations and help lead our team in delivering exceptional guest experiences. This position works closely with the General Manager to oversee service standards, employee development, operational efficiency, and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Assist in managing the day-to-day operations of the restaurant.

  • Lead, coach, and motivate front-of-house staff to maintain high performance standards.

  • Support recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training of new team members.

  • Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback to staff.

  • Foster a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment.

  • Serve as Manager on Duty as assigned and make operational decisions when necessary.

Guest Experience

• Ensure all guests receive exceptional hospitality and service.

• Maintain The Greenhouse's service standards and guest satisfaction goals.

• Address guest concerns and resolve issues promptly and professionally.

• Build strong relationships with guests and encourage repeat business.

• Assist in executing special events, private dining experiences, and restaurant promotions.

Operations Management

• Support daily opening, service, and closing procedures.

• Ensure cleanliness, organization, and maintenance of all guest and service areas.

• Monitor service flow and staffing levels to maximize efficiency and guest satisfaction.

• Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and operational standards.

• Assist with scheduling and labor management to meet business needs.

Financial & Administrative Responsibilities

• Utilize Toast POS for daily operations, reporting, and cash management.

• Ensure accurate cash handling, deposits, and reconciliation procedures.

• Monitor sales performance and assist in achieving revenue goals.

• Support inventory management, ordering, receiving, and product organization.

• Assist in controlling food, beverage, and labor costs.

• Identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency.

Food Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with all health department regulations and food safety standards.

• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

• Enforce sanitation procedures and workplace safety practices.

• Ensure all team members adhere to food handling and safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of restaurant leadership or supervisory experience.

• Strong understanding of full-service restaurant operations and hospitality standards.

• Proven ability to lead and develop teams in a fast-paced environment.

• Experience with Toast POS or similar restaurant management systems.

• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

• Strong organizational and time management abilities.

• Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.

• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

• Food Safety Certification preferred or ability to obtain certification upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in upscale casual or chef-driven dining environments.

• Knowledge of wine, cocktails, and beverage service.

• Experience with inventory control and cost management.

• Experience coordinating private events and special functions.

• Demonstrated success in improving guest satisfaction and team performance.
